The Lisp Pretty Printer implementation is not perfect yet.
PPRINT-LOGICAL-BLOCK
does not respect *PRINT-LINES*
.
A pprint dispatch table is a CONS
of a SYMBOL
*PRINT-PPRINT-DISPATCH*
and an association list which maps
types into priorities and print functions.
Their use is strongly discouraged because of the performance issues:
when *PRINT-PPRINT-DISPATCH*
is non-trivial and *PRINT-PRETTY*
is non-NIL
, printing of every object requires a lookup in the table,
which entails many calls to TYPEP
(which cannot be made fast
enough).
